Flag Day Pin Badge: British Sailors Hospital -Edinburgh
This is a scarce, WW1 flag day charity pin. These were issued during the war by various societies to help raise funds to support the war effort by various charities associated with the war effort.
This particular one was issued to help raise funds for the England soldiers fighting on the Western Front. A very important cause, that as well as raising money kept also kept the British population supporting the war, these pins were thus in effect a subtle piece of propaganda. Overall a great piece of social and military history.
