Rare German WW2 Narvik SHIELD badge, 1940
This item depicted in the images below is a rare German WW2 campaign shield award in its silver version. This arm shield was awarded to Kriegsmarine (German Navy) personnel, was worn on the upper left sleeve.
The award was issued following the German invasion of Norway in 1940 and is a sought after collector’s item. As can be seen below the badge shows some aging signs, but all of the main features and details are intact. As found.
Date Instituted: August 19th, 1940
Awarded To: Officers and men that participated in the Battle of Narvik during the Norwegian Campaign.
Qualifications: Participation in the Battle for Narvik between April 9th, 1940 and June 9th, 1940.
First Awarded: March 21st, 1941 – to GenObrst. Dietl
Number Awarded: 8,577 total
Grades/Variations: This badge was awarded in three versions, two silver versions and a gold version.
