German – SPANISH WW2 ORDER OF MILITARY MERIT 1 CLASS CROSS for Legion Condor
Gilt-edged red enamel Greek cross on swivel crown suspension, the face with an imposed circular central medallion in red, white enamel and gilt metal bearing an escutcheon quarterly of Castile and Léon with Granada overall. The reverse plain on original slightly age-faded ribbon mounted for wear in the Spanish style with top buckle.
The Order was created by Queen Isabel II in 1864 for military merit. The cross is of white enamel in times of peace, and of red in times of war. This is from the period 1938 to 1940.
CROSS & CROW 55 mm HEIGHT, 41mm WIDE. For sample I put a few photos with the same medal worn by German officers.
The order has an enamel on both sides. Usually this order has enamel only on a reverse. Very rare variant with low issue !!
Estimate price: $380 – $400. Recently the same medal sold in Germany for $450 – Look at the screenshot.
