Extremely rare German WW2 train sign to AUSCHWITZ concentration camp
People deported to concentration camps ceased to be treated like human beings. Their names were replaced with numbers,
which they had to memorize and respond to during role calls and other procedures. Their clothing was confiscated and replaced by uniforms that had patches sewn on to identify them on the basis of race, religion, sexual orientation, or political affiliation. Many lost their lives through starvation, disease, torture, and physical exhaustion. Some were shot or gassed.
For your consideration is the rare WW2 German train sign to Auschwitz concentration camp. It is enamelled and has an inscriptions on one side RAUCHER (smocking area) and on other side NICHTRAUCHER (not smocking area).
This item with other items from Auschwitz (train ticket to Auschwitz, armband and few patches with stamp Auschwitz etc …) were bought long time ago on estate sale in Europe.
For sample I put a few photos with people who were transferred to Auschwitz during WW2.
Last year train ticket AUSCHWITZ sold on eBay for $1411 !! – see the image bellow.
